This lab is open to all students who want to try/learn/use GNU/Linux, but Petroleum Drilling students has priority. The door is normally open during class, but locked otherwise. Contact the system administrator in office E-322 for access or reservation.

You will need a Unix-account in order to use this lab, see

This lab has 16+1 HP Z600 workstations, named pitter21 - pitter37 ( pitter2 cluster) and a couple of older workstations, pitter1 - pitter7. All workstations are running Scientific Linux 7.

You are welcome to use the lab whenever it's available and not reserved and in use by class.

The workstations, pitter21 - pitter37, boots to either TekNat LinuxLab (default), GeoLab Linux or GeoLab Windows operating system. You are allowed to reboot the workstation in order to change the operating system to what you need, but when not in use, all workstations should be booted to default operating system.

All users must log out from the workstation when leaving the lab. GeoLab users should also restart the workstation after loging out, this is important in order for the workstation to bee available on TekNat's UNIX-system (booted to default operating system). Users are only allowed to lock a workstation for a short period of time.

Never disconnect cables (power, network, keyboard, mouse). Never push the computers power button - unless, of course, if the computer is already off.

Don't make a mess, clean up after yourself. If you move something out of order, but it back before you leave.

Food policy

Beverages may be consumed in the computer lab provided they are in non-breakable, spill-proof containers. Please consume food elsewhere.
